WHY LIVING CO?

Why Living Co? Why now? How long has it been in the works?

Hello and welcome! I feel like this first Blog post is probably better titled “FAQs”, so read on for those with all the questions of “Why?”.

If you are new to who I am or my life and history in business, I’ll give you a little run through (sorry for those up on the know). In my early 20’s I actually went to cosmetology school to get my hair and makeup design accreditation. I then went on to open my own in home salon and really enjoyed being a business owner. From there we moved to a new house, and welcomed our first child into the world and I stepped back form the in home salon portion of my life and embraced doing the creative side I loved so much and just did free lance hair and makeup for weddings and events. I have such an entrepreneurial heart and it couldn’t be ignored for long so I also jumped into the world of creating faux floral designs and blogging. I loved it and is a very fond chapter of my life. I learned so much about myself and how hard I can push myself. In the end though, that push was causing a lot of time away from our growing family and with plans of a number 3 on the horizon I chose to step away and just casually blog. It ended up being the absolute best choice for me and my family.

Fast forward to the past couple years, we were head under water with 3 little kids and getting by on minimal sleep. We got involved with a church plant right here in our community which we have loved so much and invested lots of time and love into. Between that, life, and kids, I felt satisfied but there was always a little nudge in my heart still stirring, that part of me that yearns to creatively express itself through entrepreneurship, was still there under the surface.

We had been saving and waiting for years on renovating our home, waiting till we knew if it in fact was our forever home. In 2019 decisions came to a head and we decided to have our dreams drawn up and then with the onslaught of the pandemic and loose ends being tied we decided to dip our feet into the renovation pool. I had always worked with what we had for our rentals - paint, décor, ever evolving with our budget and changing trends. I was so incredibly excited to have the opportunity to finally show what I can do with home design. Not taking on a designer we did all the planning and with help from our draftsperson and contractor we brought the dream to life. Throughout my life I have always helped friends and family and during the process of our own home that nudge went from quiet to loud. It felt terrifying to even think about but after much prayer and putting aside my fears, I was able to actually voice possibly going for it.

It’s been months of back and forth, business plan orchestration and building up the courage - all leading up to today. The launch of Living Co. See what I did there ;)

Its new. Its big for me. I’m running on my life experience, and personal design and creative which is as encouraging as it is anxiety inducing (although there is big things happening with that as well..).

So this is the next chapter. The fear is so easily replaced by the passion to come alongside people in one of the biggest events in their lives, or even just those looking for guidance in investing in what they already have. To equally help contractors and clients, and bridge the gaps that are so obviously missing in an industry based heavily on status and notoriety. There needs to be someone for everyone.

We hope you find that here with Living Co.
